Bari

Reliable historical knowledge on the origins of Bari date back to the era when the foundation of the Greek colonies of Magna Graecia started. However, the first documented data refer to the Roman conquest, when Bari became fishing port. All tourist routes include the historical city centre: here, until the 19th century, city life flowed within the city walls, along the narrow alleys, squares, and small streets, in a typical Middle Ages town layout.
